Services aside, it’s the location of this sparkling new space that’ll organisers are certain to adore, says Nicoleta Giurgiu, Visitor Experience Manager. So what does she think delegates and planners alike will love most?
“Without a doubt the beautiful scenery of the Dandenong Ranges that is within close proximity to Melbourne, the abundant wildlife that surrounds us and the shiny glimpses of our historic Puffing Billy steam engines as they chug past this state-of-the-art Visitor Centre,” she says.
“This is a chance for guests to escape the ordinary and enjoy anything from an intimate private gathering, Christmas party or gala dinner to conferences, training sessions, seminars, and corporate awards ceremonies, in one of the most postcard-perfect locations in Melbourne.
“Another facet of the Lakeside Visitor Centre that makes this space so special is our Lakeside Hall, which pays homage to the rich history of our century-old heritage steam railway with a collection of expertly curated steam artifact displays, including Puffing Billy's first-ever locomotive, 3A, built in 1900.”
Groups using the space will enjoy panoramic views of the train platform as well as unique historic artifacts via the floor to ceiling windows. Alternatively, if your group requires privacy, floor to ceiling blinds and a soundproofed multipurpose function space ensures that as well.
“We can hold daytime and night-time events,” she adds as well as including some unique opportunities such as chartering a train dining carriage with a delicious menu showcasing the best of the region’s food and wine as they move through the picturesque Dandenong Ranges. There’s also steam train arrivals and limitless opportunities for team building activities such a paddle boarding and bicycle hire.”
