Inner health for outer beauty – conferencing with corporate social responsibility at Yarra Valley Estate

Last February, [company withheld] held a five-day conference at Yarra Valley Estate with an emphasis on corporate social responsibly. The conference was positioned as a ‘Nature Escape while working’ and provided plenty of healthy outdoor options for participants, while also delivering on the idea of how teams can contribute to the communities they belong to.

A highlight of this conference was the “Cook for Charity” initiative. Participants enjoyed a cooking session together using produce from the Estate’s edible herb forest garden and then shared their dishes with a local support group. (The “Meals for Locals in Need” program is another great idea for teams to experience true ‘giving back.’)

Over the five days, delegates heard from influential women guest speakers and took care of themselves with yoga in the open-air chapel. Sharing meals together became a celebration of team spirit with a different themed dinner and style each night, complemented by tastings of Four Pillars Gin and a Sutherland Estate wine tasting. Hands-on pizza making and amazing healthy meals featuring just-picked produce from the onsite edible forest were great discussions points at dinner and the tailor-made Yarra Valley Estate scavenger hunt around the property ticked several boxes for outdoor activities, team building and strategic thinking using the unique and natural assets of the location.

Another unique activity that delegates found highly valuable was the trip to the Babbajin Wildlife Shelter, which offers working opportunities and tours to get involved in the care and understanding of rescued and native fauna.

When booking a business event or conference there are the ‘must haves’ and then there are the ‘how amazing is that!’ Well-appointed accommodation and conferencing options that are a treat to be away from home for are essential, but conference participants appreciate the extra touches that come from a well-appointed location too.  At Yarra Valley Estate, guest and conference rooms are full of natural light, walking trails provide plenty of opportunities for fresh air in between activities, and the lounge and terrace is home to a magnificent pizza oven that provides a perfect yet informal team bonding activity. The Estate also has an aeroplane Hanger that would make an ideal location for a wicked Theme Party for your group. The beverage choices can also be locally inspired with wine, gin and other locally brewed specialties – the pride of the Yarra Valley – at your doorstep.

Coming from interstate, the Yarra Valley is only an hour’s drive from Melbourne CBD and is easily accessible via freeway from the Tullamarine Airport.
